BAPTISMS
A fresh start. A public declaration.
For many Christians, baptism in water is one of the most significant moments in their faith journey. It’s a public declaration of faith, a symbol of new life in Jesus, and an ancient practice the church has been doing since the very beginning.
If you’re thinking about being baptised, we’d love to celebrate that step with you.
What is baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality. Going under the water is a picture of dying to our old, sinful life, and coming up out of the water is a picture of rising to new life with Christ. It points to the inward experience of being baptised in the Holy Spirit, whereby God’s Spirit makes his home inside every Christian.
At Dianella Church we practise believers’ baptism, which means it’s for people who have made a personal decision to follow Jesus. We typically baptise by full immersion, either in the church baptistry or in a river or the ocean.
How does it work?
The process is personal and unhurried. We’ll sit down with you, hear a bit of your story, and talk through what baptism means. Baptisms in the church normally take place during a Sunday service, which makes it a moment the whole community gets to share in. At a river or in the ocean, the church community is invited to a standalone ceremony on location.
There’s no rush. We want it to be a moment that means something.
